Latest Poker News: Biggest Poker Winners of the Week

The 2013 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) is only a quarter of the way through and already we have seen some champions making all the latest poker news by walking away from the tables far richer than when they sat down. For anyone who likes to play poker on line, this is the ultimate tournament. Top players go head to head in an internet battle of epic proportions. Latest poker news.

Paul “paulgees81″ Volpe, Benny “toweliestar” Spindler, Ana Marquez and Sami “Lrslzk” Kelopuro have all won events, but it’s George Danzer who’s made the biggest splash at SCOOP. Team PokerStars Pro Danzer won Event #12-H, a $2,100 NL 2-7 Draw tournament to claim the second SCOOP victory of his career. He may play poker on line regularly, but winning two SCOOP watches to accompany his two WCOOP bracelets is impressive. He took first place and $34,040, whilst tehopo1 took second and $23,000 and Shawn “buck21″ Buchanan was third with $13,800. Latest poker news.

Season 9 of EPT Monte Carlo came to an end in spectacular style this week, with Max Altergott winning the Grand Final Super High Roller event for  1,746,400. Altergott amazingly took home his first ever live tournament cash as he prefers to play poker on line rather than attend physical games. He took apart the final table of seven players and emerged as the last major winner of the 10-day festival. He beat Jason Mercier, who featured in last weeks latest poker news, into second place with  1,115,700 in prize money and Sorrel Mizi into third with  679,100. Mercier may only have come second but he has now won more than $1 million in five out of the last six years. He was definitely one of the best players at this year’s EPT tournaments as he was victorious in the Open-Face Chinese event and made the final table of the  10,000 Main Event. Latest poker news.

Another big winner who likes to play poker on line is Gus Hansen. This week Hansen won a phenomenal $1.57 million in one day, playing mostly FLO8 games. His 19-hour session saw him clean up and prove that once again the fixed-limit Omaha Hi-Lo games can be incredibly lucrative. He may have started this year branded as one of poker’s biggest losers, but his comeback in one day sees him redeem himself dramatically.

Finally, online player Isidur1 also made big news this week when he won another $1 million. Viktor “Isidur1″ Blom has had a fantastic 2013 so far and this time around he made the money in some $500-$1000 CAP PLO and FLO8 games. Isidur1 is definitely in the running to be this year’s biggest online winner.
